Discharge Instructions
Please make arrangements for a responsible adult to drive you home after the procedure if you have received sedation. The medication given during the procedure may cause drowsiness or forgetfulness, so you should not drive or operate machinery or make legal decisions for twenty-four hours after the procedure.
Home care instructions vary, depending on your personal evaluation and course of treatment. Therefore, a healthcare provider will discuss going-home instructions at the time of your examination or procedure. Please feel free to ask healthcare providers any questions you may have about these instructions.
In general, an icepack may be applied to the procedure site twenty minutes per hour for the next 24 hours. Showering is permissible but please avoid submersion in water such as bath, hot tub, or swimming pool for the next 24 hours. If you ordinarily take blood-thinning medications, you may resume this medication 24 hours after the procedure or when your original prescriber instructs you to do so. If you develop fever, swelling at the procedure site, or any other symptoms that concern you, please contact our office at 847-883-0077.
